A caffeine free environment

I can’t recall there being a day in my adult life when I haven’t had coffee. Until today.

There was always coffee at work, and when I stopped work, there was always a coffee machine at home. Currently I have a grinder and an espresso machine that I have owned for many years, with the latter receiving a series of what I described to my wife as “essential performance upgrades.” These have, of course, made no difference to the taste of the coffee.

But the advice for those undergoing radiation therapy is: no caffeine; because it irritates the radiated bits, or something.

There are studies that show caffeine actually aids the RT process (https://www.docancer.org/blog/caffeine-radiation-the-benefits), but these benefits are presumably more than offset by the risks, so I will follow NHS advice and avoid caffeine for the next four weeks.

I am OK with this. NO, I AM NOT OK WITH THIS AND I WANT TO KICK THE CATS AND CRAWL INTO A HOLE; AND I WANT COFFEE.
